Post-Surgical Recovery Therapy

What is it?

This is more comprehensive than a standard lymphatic drainage or massage session. Early care typically focuses on gently supporting lymphatic flow, comfort, and swelling management. As healing progresses, sessions may also address scar mobility, tissue restrictions, fibrosis, posture, and range of motion. We require a complimentary consultation before scheduling so we can review your procedure, surgery date, surgeon’s instructions, health history, and recovery needs.

Optional Dolphin Neurostim

Dolphin Neurostim is a specialized microcurrent treatment that may be added to Post-Surgical Recovery Therapy when scar work is appropriate. Gentle electrical stimulation is applied along the scar and surrounding tissue to support comfort and mobility and to treat post-surgical tissue restrictions. Because treatment time depends on the length and complexity of the scar, Lynn will recommend the appropriate amount of additional time after evaluating the area.

This might be the right service for you if :

  • You are within the first 16 weeks following cosmetic, reconstructive, cancer-related, or orthopedic surgery

  • You are experiencing post-surgical swelling, tightness, heaviness, bruising, or tissue congestion

  • You need care that can safely adapt as your incisions, scars, and tissues heal

  • You are developing areas of firmness, restricted tissue, or possible fibrosis

  • You want a personalized recovery plan rather than a one-size-fits-all treatment

  • You would benefit from support with scar mobility, posture, comfort, or range of motion as healing progresses

Choose a different service if :

  • You are more than 16 weeks beyond surgery and your primary concern is lingering swelling—choose Manual Lymphatic Drainage

  • Your incisions are fully healed and your main concerns are muscular tension, pain, or restricted fascia—choose Therapeutic Massage & Myofascial Release

  • Your primary goal is flexibility and guided mobility work—choose Assisted Stretching

  • You are seeking aggressive body contouring or forceful post-operative massage—these services are not offered at Bodywork Creative

Important safety note :

Post-surgical bodywork must complement—not replace—the care and instructions provided by your surgeon or medical team. Medical clearance may be required depending on your procedure, health history, complications, and stage of healing. Treatment may need to be postponed if you have a fever, active infection, an opening incision, unexplained redness or warmth, suspected blood clot, uncontrolled bleeding, or another complication. Sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or significant one-sided swelling requires immediate medical attention rather than a bodywork appointment. If you are unsure whether treatment is appropriate, contact Lynn before booking.
