Therapeutic Mat Bodywork

WHAT IT IS:

Therapeutic Mat Bodywork is a fully clothed, individualized session performed on a comfortable padded mat. Unlike traditional table massage, the mat allows your body to be supported and moved through a wider variety of positions. Drawing from Lynn’s extensive massage experience and training in yoga, stretching, and traditional mat-based bodywork, sessions may blend assisted stretching, rhythmic compression, gentle rocking, joint movement, mindful positioning, and massage techniques. Lynn may use her hands, forearms, knees, or feet to apply broad, controlled pressure while guiding your body through comfortable stretches and movements. Some techniques feel relaxing and rhythmic, while others focus more specifically on restricted muscles, joints, or movement patterns. Every session is adapted to your mobility, comfort level, and goals to help reduce tension and encourage easier movement. This is therapeutic bodywork—not a yoga class or spiritual practice. Because you remain fully clothed, please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.

This might be the right service for you if :

  • You feel generally stiff, tight, or restricted throughout your body

  • You want a combination of massage, stretching, compression, and movement

  • You enjoy bodywork but would like a more active or movement-based experience than traditional table massage

  • You want to improve flexibility, mobility, posture, or body awareness

  • You have tension involving several interconnected areas rather than one isolated muscle

  • You prefer to remain fully clothed during your session

  • You enjoy firm, broad pressure but do not necessarily want deep-tissue massage

  • You want care that considers how your whole body moves and works together

Choose a different service if :

  • Your primary concern is swelling, heaviness, or lymphatic support—choose Manual Lymphatic Drainage

  • You are within the first 16 weeks following surgery—choose Post-Surgical Recovery Therapy after completing the required consultation

  • You want traditional massage performed on a massage table with oil or lotion—choose Therapeutic Massage & Myofascial Release

  • You want a shorter, more targeted session focused primarily on flexibility or a specific area of limited mobility—choose Assisted Stretching

  • You are looking for a yoga class, exercise session, or spiritually based practice—those are not part of this service

Important Safety Note :

Therapeutic Mat Bodywork may include pressure, stretching, joint movement, and transitions between different positions. It may not be appropriate during acute injury, immediately following surgery, or when certain joint, bone, cardiovascular, neurological, or medical conditions are present. Techniques will be modified or omitted based on your health history, mobility, pain level, and current symptoms. Medical clearance may be required if you have a recent surgery or fracture, severe osteoporosis, uncontrolled high blood pressure, a history of blood clots, joint instability, significant neurological symptoms, or another condition that could affect safe movement. You are always encouraged to communicate if any pressure, stretch, or position feels uncomfortable.
